Peter Trummer is a Visiting Faculty for Architectural Design and Architectural Theory at SCI-Arc in Los Angeles. He is a Professor for Urban Design & Urban Planning at the University of Innsbruck and served as the Head of the Institute of Urban Design (IOUD) from 2010 to 2021. He is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture.

He was Guest Professor and Lecturer at the School of Design at University of Pennsylvania, the Städelschule Architectural Class in Frankfurt, at IAAC in Barcelona and the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and directed the Associative Design Program at the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam from 2004-2010. Trummer received his Master’s Degree at the Technical University in Graz under the supervision of Günther Domenig, his Postgraduate Degree at the Berlage Institute in Amsterdam in 1997, and his PhD on “The City as a Technical Being”, supervised by Sanford Kwinter, at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. Since 2001 he has pursued his own practice as an architect, researcher and educator.

He lectured and was invited as a critic at the AA in London, the University for Applied Art in Vienna, the Cooper Union, the IAAC in Barcelona, the Berlage Institute in Amsterdam, Harvard GSD in Cambridge Massachusetts, at the School of Architecture in Princeton, the Rice University in Houston, SCI-Arc in Los Angeles, the Schoo of Design at the University of Pennsylvania

and at the Yale School of Architecture in New Haven.

He exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 2006 and 2012, 2020 at the Seoul Biennale in 2019 and among others at the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York.

He currently publishes his book on “The City as a Technical Being” with ORO Editions and  edited recently the SAC journal 05 “Zero Piranesi”. He published in Log 49, 45 and 27, in serval AD’s, Arch+,Archis, de Architect, Hunch, Oase, Offramp and Project among others.
